VICTORIA

Home to the Rutherglen, Alpine Valleys, King Valley and Glenrowan regions, north-east Victoria has rich, fertile soils, clean water and an ideal seasonal climate. Rutherglen offers wines with a strong history, including muscat, tokay and rich, red wines, but all are given a fresh stamp by modern winemakers. The unique sub-alpine conditions of the Alpine Valleys produce wines of great elegance, and the picturesque King Valley has a growing reputation for producing uniquely flavoured wines due to its high altitudes. Glenrowan is known for its full-bodied reds and fortified wines and, of course, Ned Kelly tales.

RUTHERGLEN

Rutherglen is considered one of Australia’s most historic and iconic wine regions.

With more than 160 years of winemaking heritage, a beautiful climate, and a range of unique and outstanding wine varieties, Rutherglen is a wine region you must visit to truly appreciate. Home to wineries that have been passed from generation to generation, fifth-, sixth- and seventh-generation family members continue the work of their ancestors to make bold, brave and expressive wines. Muscat of Rutherglen is famous around the world and is a unique wine that could be considered a national treasure. Known as the world’s richest wine, some muscats available in Rutherglen have an average age of more than 50 years, which gives you an incredible opportunity to taste one of Australia’s most complex and decadent wines.

Rutherglen is also the adopted home of durif, a French red wine variety, which has bold, intense and luscious characteristics. Durif can reach its full potential with the region’s warm climate and long summer days, and is paired excellently with red meats, close friends and laughter! Along with wine, Rutherglen hosts a range of fantastic local producers. Olives, oils, beer, chocolate, cheese and outstanding dining venues will certainly complement your wine experience in the region.

We invite you to come and enjoy our award-winning wines, meet sixth and seventh-generation winemakers, indulge in our delicious fortified wines, and fall in love with our countryside! – Natalie Ajay, Winemakers of Rutherglen
