De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate

Located in the heart of Rutherglen, walking distance from town, De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate gives visitors plenty of reasons to stay a while. With the cellar door, art gallery and Tuileries Restaurant all housed within the original 1880’s winery building, the complex is full of character and has become an iconic landmark within the town.

The unique, modern cellar door provides visitors with several options to sample the wide variety of wines produced at the Rutherglen winery, as well as a number of De Bortoli wines from other regions. The Rutherglen wines are true-to-style, award-winning and feature alternative wine varietals alongside regional favourites such as durif and muscat.

Cellar door options include traditional and seasonal wine tastings and wine and food pairings. Cheese and produce platters are permanently on offer and guests can choose to match a particular wine or simply buy a bottle of their favourite. Platters can be enjoyed inside making the most of the ambience and warmth of the art gallery surroundings or out in the courtyard all year round.

Guests may also choose to enjoy a meal in the restaurant. Tuileries Restaurant is one of the most renowned restaurants in the region, offering modern Australian cuisine in a relaxed, semi-formal setting. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner with dining options both indoors and outdoors.

If more than a day trip is on the agenda, Tuileries boutique accommodation provides the ideal destination for an overnight escape. The house specialty is a dinner, bed and breakfast package. Two styles of accommodation are on offer: the ever-popular king-sized vineyard rooms, each with its own balcony overlooking the stunning wedding garden and vineyard, and the two-bedroom units for larger groups. The site also offers a tennis court and pool, and is a short, flat walk to Rutherglen’s main street.

De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate can also accommodate those looking for a business retreat or conference. The facade of the building hides a plethora of facilities including a modern function room as well as a stylish, smaller boardroom and large conference room upstairs

Tasting Notes

⇐ De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate Renaissance VRM (Viognier Roussanne Marsanne)

This wine has delicate honeysuckle, apricot, flinty and tropical fruit notes, with stylish hints of cedar and toast from premium oak and lees contact. The palate is mouth filling, has texture and ripe fruit flavours, with enduring citrus and toasty notes on the finish. This elegant blend is a truly harmonious yet complex wine.

De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate Fiano
⇐ De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate Fiano

The colour is pale straw with green hues, citus lift with soft hazelnut and dry herb aromas. The palate has beautiful length and structure, soft texture, and nutty, citrus and delicate tropical fruit notes.

⇐ De Bortoli Rutherglen Rutherglen Estate Durif

The Estate Durif has concentrated dark berry flavours, with chocolate, liquorice and well-integrated oak. It has classic grainy Durif tannins that support the fruit and are integrated into the soul of the wine.

De Bortoli Muscat
⇐ De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate NV Classic Muscat

This luscious, fortified wine displays aromas of raisins, toffee, butterscotch, dried fruit and nuts. Traditionally served after dinner, the De Bortoli Rutherglen Estate NV Classic Muscat is undergoing a revolution of sorts, and is proving to be an excellent aperitif and ideal base for cocktails.
