Anderson Winery' award-winning saperavi will be making its first appearance at the estate’s cellar door.

Gold Medal Saperavi

Back in 2007, Anderson Winery planted half a hectare of saperavi vines, then expanded to a full hectare when the variety thrived on the small vineyard in Rutherglen. Now in 2019, Anderson Winery’s award-winning saperavi will be making its first appearance at the estate’s cellar door. First planted in ancient Georgia, the red saperavi grape makes a unique and full-flavoured wine. The 2015 vintage earned its makers Howard and Christobelle Anderson a gold medal at the 2017 Saperavi World Prize in Tbilisi, Georgia. Anderson Winery believes in applying modern knowledge to ancient practices. Founder, Howard Anderson, has more than 50 years’ experience making wine. There are eight varieties of grape on the eight-hectare vineyard, all of which are harvested and basket-pressed by hand. Anderson Winery vintages are only available online or from the cellar door, which makes this boutique vineyard an exciting place to visit for any wine enthusiast.
