The vision for YARRAWOOD ESTATE started more than 20 years ago, when the Schwaiger family began to plant one of the most picturesque vineyards in the Yarra Valley. YARRAWOOD ESTATE is a multi-award-winning vineyard, with a single-minded devotion to producing premium quality, estate-grown wines that exemplify the much sought after characteristics of this renowned cool-climate region.

Situated on the floor of the valley, the estate is 150 acres in size. The mild weather of the valley allows for slow fruit ripening, which in combination with restricted yields and mindful winemaking, enables the estate to produce exceptional wines that are rooted in the purity and quality of the fruit.

In 2002, YARRAWOOD ESTATE first launched its Tall Tales range of wines. These wines represent a well-rounded portfolio of high-quality red and white wines that display varietal purity, structure and depth. This was followed by vibrant, fruit-driven Yarra Valley range, and then the limited, ultra-premium Barrel Select range, which represents the pinnacle of the estate’s wine production.

A testament to the quality of the estate’s wines, the 2008 Tall Tales Shiraz was awarded Best Wine of Show at the 2010 International Cool Climate Wine Show. The Tall Tales Botrytis Riesling was a trophy winner at the 2011 Yarra Valley Wine Show, and the 2010 Barrel Select Shiraz was awarded a Gold Medal and Top of Class at the 2013 National Cool Climate Wine Show. Most recently, the 2016 Yarra Valley Sauvignon Blanc was awarded the Champion Sauvignon Blanc Trophy and a Gold Medal at the 2016 National Cool Climate Wine Show.

YARRAWOOD ESTATE’s cellar door and café provides outstanding 360-degree views over the vineyard, lake, and Yarra Valley beyond. Visitors can sample the full range of YARRAWOOD ESTATE’s Tall Tales wines, or simply relax with a glass of wine and a delicious meal. During the summer months, live music is performed every weekend on the lawn.
