Wynnton Ridge Vineyard
Wynnton Ridge Vineyard
Established in 1994 by David and Marilyn Jones, Wynnton Ridge Vineyard is a family-owned winery that is situated on the 6-hectare grounds of an old dairy farm, which served the Red Hill and Shoreham region more than a century ago. The rustic cellar door and tasting room was converted from the original four-cow milking shed, while the small vineyard preserves the local charm and family-friendly atmosphere of the original farmstead.
Located on the gentle undulations of Red Hill/Shoreham, the non-irrigated vines produce award-winning wines that are infused with the richness of the local soil and the character of the coastal climate. Visitors are welcome to wander the vineyard at their leisure, taking in the stunning sights and sweeping hills of the Mornington Peninsula while enjoying Wynnton Ridge Vineyard’s undeniable character and old-worldly feel as they do so.
Specialising in chardonnay, pinot gris and pinot noir, Wynnton Ridge Vineyard upholds a reputation for cool-climate wine of the highest quality. It has received several gold, silver and bronze medals since 2012, when it was awarded the ‘Best Mornington Peninsula White Wine’ trophy.
Head to Wynnton Ridge Vineyard on long weekends for the perfect wine-tasting experience and discover this secret part of the Red Hill/Shoreham region, with its wonderful views and historic setting. Conveniently located close by to a number of popular Shoreham locations, the luscious greenery and historic beauty of Wynnton Ridge Vineyard makes it a must-visit location for wine connoisseurs alike.
Tasting Notes
⇐ 2022 Wynnton Ridge Pinot Gris
This 2022 wine is mostly in the Alsatian mode of ripe and rich, with a lifted nose and palate of pears. It showcases an Italian nuttiness, which gives the wine a very moreish quality. The palate is soft and mouth filling, and the nutty savoury character continues throughout every mouthful.
⇐ 2021 Wynnton Ridge Chardonnay
2021 was a cooler vintage, leading to undeniable fragrance and elegance. This wine has the commensurate undertones of citrus, augmented by some riper fig and tropical flavours. Wild fermentation in barrel has added a lovely creamy texture.
⇐ 2022 Wynnton Ridge Chardonnay
2022 was a vintage of intermediate temperature, leading to length and ability to age. This wine has a good spine of grapefruit with a little gentle stone-fruit character. Wild fermentation in barrel has added a lovely creamy texture.
⇐ 2022 Wynnton Ridge Pinot Noir
Quite the symphony of cherries, this wine has a very fragrant nose, bursting mainly with red cherries, but a little glacé cherry for variation too. Alongside the fruity notes is some savoury, earthy character. Featuring refreshing pops of morello cherry, the crisp and lively palate has a lovely weight, with a beautiful and soft feeling on the tongue.
