Warramunda Estate
Warramunda Estate
Warramunda Estate was purchased by the Magdziarz family in 2007 who produced their first vintage in 2013. With a vision to produce estate-grown wines that reflect the purity of each variety and the distinct qualities of the Coldstream site, the family hold a shared commitment to building a sustainable business without compromising on quality.
The winery and its daughter label Liv Zak practice sustainable viticulture, which combines the application of both organic and biodynamic philosophies. The family’s focus from the earth to the vine relies primarily on managing the microflora’s that exist in the soil. The wines are naturally fermented utilising wild yeasts from the vineyard with minimal intervention, and with time reflects the provenance of Warramunda Estate.
As a James Halliday 5-star rated winery, the Warramunda Estate philosophy is a demonstrated success. Having achieved numerous awards and gold medal ratings since its inception, the winery continues to prove its unwavering commitment to producing wines that reflect the love of the land and a passion for excellence.
Guests are encouraged to sit back with a glass of their favourite wine and enjoy the delicious gourmet platters and cheese boards while taking in the expansive views of the Yarra Valley from the terrace.
Liv Zak wines are available for tasting at the vineyard’s cellar door. The wine can also be purchased online, so you can enjoy premium wine from the comfort of your own home.
Tasting Notes
⇐ 2019 Liv Zak Chardonnay
Crushed hazelnuts, cashews, lemon and peach add a lovely rich textural weight to the palate. The wine is balanced by some lithe acidity. Gorgeous melon fruits interplay with savoury cashew cream, giving length and texture to the finish.
⇐ 2019 Liv Zak Rosé
Raspberries, blueberries and Turkish delight. A soft and elegant palate has a lovely plush texture brought by the delicate tannin, which supports the vibrant red berry fruits. The finishes are long and refreshing like plump Christmas cherries.
⇐ Warramunda 2018 Marsanne
This wine features tones of delicate white florals and mineral nuances. This mineral-driven expression of the site and variety is supported by pithy green fruit, grapefruit core and subtle, gentle florals. True to form, the age-worthy, non-fruit characters of roasted nuts and complex spices complete the bigger picture.
⇐ Warramunda 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon
Aromas of perfumed violets, cedar, cigar box, and old spice define this cabernet sauvignon. The palate has dense plum and blackberry notes, followed by old spice and perfumed violets. This reveals the subtler nuances of cedar, potpourri and dark chocolate.
