Sanguine Estate’s 2017 Progeny Shiraz has won a total of five trophies since its release last year. At the Heathcote Wine Show in August 2018, the vintage won trophies for the Best Shiraz, Best Young Shiraz, Best Wine Grown and Made in Heathcote, and Best Single-Vineyard Wine. This was followed by a win at the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards with the Victorian Red Wines of Provenance trophy, which recognises outstanding consistency in Victorian winemaking across three vintages over 10 years of wine production. “The 2017 vintage is very similar to our highly awarded 2012 vintage, so you can imagine how excited we are about it,” says Mark Hunter, Sanguine Estate’s head winemaker.
