Terindah Estate
Terindah Estate
Driving down McAdams Lane, just off Portarlington Road, you gain a sense that something spectacular is drawing near, when suddenly, you catch a glimpse of panoramic views ahead. To fully appreciate and capture the spectacular views across Corio Bay, the You Yangs and Melbourne’s city skyline, you must turn right into the driveway of one of the Bellarine’s most beautiful wineries, Terindah Estate.
The term ‘Terindah’, Indonesian for ‘most beautiful’, is fitting for this boutique Geelong venue. Established in 2000 by owners Peter and Cate Slattery, Terindah Estate’s 100-acre property is a must-see destination for anyone interested in visiting a vineyard with award-winning wines, delicious food, uninterrupted views and stunning architectural event spaces.
The estate features, The Deck, a thoughtfully designed outdoor space that wraps around the cellar door and premier events space – perfect for large groups. With boundless views across the open vines, visitors can simply enjoy a wine tasting on The Deck or share the range grazing plates on offer.
Those looking for a seated dining experience can venture downstairs to the estate’s signature restaurant, The Shed. Executive Chef Russell Hall uses high quality, local and seasonal produce to create an à la carte menu designed to complement Terindah Estate’s variety of wines.
Producing an exceptional range of estate-grown and handcrafted wines, Terindah Estate’s wine portfolio consists of Méthode Traditionnelle, pinot grigio, pinot gris, chardonnay, rosé, pinot noir, zinfandel and shiraz. Terindah Estate received the highest shiraz honour at the 2013 National Wine Show, winning the shiraz trophy for its 2012 shiraz, as well as the 2016 Dark Horse of the Year award from James Halliday. Gourmet Traveller WINE also named Terindah Estate as the cellar door with the best food in Geelong in 2017. Terindah Estate also received the prestigious trophy for Best Small Producer of the Year at the 2018 Victorian Wine Show, and in 2019 was also awarded Best Pinot Noir for its 2017 Single Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir.
Tasting Notes
⇐ 2018 Terindah Estate Zinfandel
Dominant and commanding nose with red cranberry and blackberry nestled between clove, nutmeg and sage. The palate delivers what the nose promises; deep and concentrated flavours well complemented by oak and tannin. The estate’s signature wine.
⇐ 2020 Terindah Estate Rosé
The bouquet is expressive and spritely like an upcoming summer – pomegranate, sweet florals and a field full of strawberries. Juicy yet elegant, this is a supremely well poised dry rosé, perfect to enjoy with your best friend in the sunshine.
⇐ 2018 Terindah Estate Pinot Noir
Powerful, yet charming and persuasive with well-defined red plums and black cherries. A structured and powerful palate with fantastic oak integration completes a new-world pinot noir showcasing the denser palate and flair of its terroir.
⇐ 2017 Terindah Estate Méthode Traditionnelle
Made to a ‘Méthode Champenoise’ style by fermenting in the bottle and then allowing the wine to mature on its lees for thirty-six months. This process has created a wine that really sparkles. Lemon curd and burnt orange peel are swept along by spice and brioche lees complexity. Wonderfully textured with a persistent fine bead, this wine is a real showstopper.
