Taltarni
Taltarni
For more than 50 years, Taltarni has crafted world-class wines that start in the pristine environment of its Pyrenees vineyards, just a few hours north of Melbourne. The winery’s ethos of balance, elegance, and sustainability pays homage to a deep connection with the land and commitment to producing exceptional wines that display those distinctive regional characteristics.
Located amongst the beautiful ranges and sweeping vistas of the Pyrenees Wine Region, Taltarni’s picturesque property encompasses 240-acres under vine. Rich with fertile soils, cool nights and warm days, the Pyrenees foothills and ranges provide a diversity of micro-climates for Taltarni’s vignerons and winemakers. Varieties of Taltarni include chardonnay and pinot noir for sparkling production, and shiraz and cabernet sauvignon sourced from vines planted in 1969. The winery continues to receive accolades and trophies across the wine collection at many Australian and international wine shows; including the Premier’s Trophy in the Victorian Wine Show 2021 as well as trophies for Best Shiraz, Best Other Red, and Champion Wine at the Ballarat Wine Show 2021.
Passionate in its commitment to crafting exceptional wines, the team believe it’s the finer details that unlock the true magic of Taltarni. Constantly raising the bar of quality and technique, every bottle of wine embodies the meticulous care and attention to detail of Taltarni’s vignerons, winemakers and gatekeepers. The winery invites you to share in this little piece of heaven, by visiting the beautiful cellar door, which has again been awarded as the ‘Best Large Cellar Door’ in the Pyrenees region.

Tasting Notes

⇐ 2017 Talarni Blanc de Blancs
This wine has a fine mousse and persistent bead. Aromas of green apple and a hint of cinnamon are complemented by a perfectly balanced palate of brioche and mineral flavours, underpinned with crisp apple-like acid.

⇐ 2019 Taltarni Old Vine Shiraz
Showing elegance and balance, this wine has layer upon layer of flavours that are complemented by currents, plums and spicy aromatics. The medium-weight palate offers succulence and seamless silky tannins, and lingers long after the wine. Winner of The Premier’s Trophy 2021.

⇐ 2017 Taltarni Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine was developed to show the intensity in the old vines and how they can deliver great complexity and quality, year in and year out. Full-bodied and estate-grown, this cabernet is finely balanced, with rich red fruit flavours and varietal earthy tones, chalky round tannins lingering on the palate. This win has the ability to age long into the future.

⇐ 2017 Taltarni The Patron
As the new hero of the Taltarni range, The Patron is the epitome of the estate’s quality in terms of both vineyard and winemaking. Crafted by the skilled winemakers from their oldest vines, this cabernet shiraz blend has an incredibly low yield, with only the best fruit being used each vintage. Along with structure and finesse, The Patron has drive and concentration, speaking for itself as purely and utterly Taltarni.
