The Yarra Valley is home to some of the most inviting smaller wineries in the region. A great time to visit is during the Shedfest Wine Festival, held annually on the second weekend in October. Now in its 17th year, the festival was established to showcase the unique charm of family owned wineries and vineyards in the Yarra Valley.

Growth and success of the Shedfest event has led to its expansion across the entire Yarra Valley. Previously held only within the Warbuton Hwy wineries, the event now has smaller wineries participating along the Maroondah Hwy to Healesville and the Melba Hwy to Yarra Glen and beyond. Providing a much wider festival experience.

Only an hours drive from Melbourne, once you are in the Yarra Valley you can use the map to pinpoint the wineries you would like to visit, so why not tempt yourself, your family and friends and come to the Yarra Valley and enjoy the Shedfest Wine Festival.

All wineries have sheds; usually housing crushers, barrels, tractors and other equipment vitally important to the production of fine wines. Every year, on the second weekend in October, wineries in the Yarra Valley will open their sheds to house two days of fabulous food, fine wine, live music and entertainment. If your type of festival is one where you can take it easy, taste local produce, experience the charm of small vineyards, be captivated by stunning views, chat to the owners and winemakers, tap your toes to some fine tunes, play pétanque, take croquet lessons, lawn games and watch the kids have fun, all while sipping delightful wines… then Shedfest Wine Festival is for you.

Entry to the Yarra Valley Shedfest Wine Festival is only $15, you will receive a souvenir glass which will be your ticket to taste all the wines on offer at all the participating wineries over the 2 day event. Some of the proceeds from the sale of the glass will go to a local community group, CFA or SES, to date since 2009 the Yarra Valley Smaller Wineries have raised well over $75,000. There will be plenty of food on offer and moderately priced at all the wineries during the course of the day, you only have to decide where, when and what you want to eat.
