Mitchelton Wines

Mitchelton Wines was purchased in 2011 by the Ryan family with the vision to create an iconic wine, food, art, and hospitality destination within central Victoria. Its change of ownership and subsequent revitalisation has transformed Mitchelton into a bucketlist destination for wine aficionados across the country.

A reflection of the land, Mitchelton’s world-class wines have received a plethora of awards. Most recently, Mitchelton retained its status as a 5-star rated winery in the 2021 Halliday Wine Companion, with its wines having also won numerous trophies and gold medals across the 2020 National and Regional Wine Show circuit in addition to receiving ratings of 90 points and above in the 2021 Halliday Wine Companion.

A visit to the award-winning cellar door in Nagambie is the perfect place to become acquainted with the wine producing region and philosophy behind Mitchelton’s regional winemaking. Be greeted by welcoming vines, before taking a seated tasting and guided education of select, current release wines. Learn about the Estate’s fifty year history and the stories behind the iconic Tower from the team of passionate wine ambassadors in a modern and comfortable setting.

With thirty wines in its portfolio, Mitchelton Wines specialises in shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, riesling and chardonnay. Its estate vineyards include 108-hectares in Nagambie, 20-hectares in Heathcote and 21-hectares in the Yarra Valley, from which a variety of wines are sourced.

To complement Mitchelton’s exquisite wines, enjoy region-inspired dishes at Muse Restaurant or a more casual lunch at The Provedore, which highlights local craftsmanship, artisan design and fine produce. When a day visit simply is not long enough, extend your stay by checking in to Mitchelton’s hotel and day spa or its new Airstream hotel. Tasting Notes

⇐ Mitchelton Estate Single Vineyard Shiraz

Created with fruit from its Nagambie vineyard, Mitchelton’s flagship shiraz captures the heart and soul of Mitchelton’s winemaking expertise which has been cultivated over fifty years. Ripe mulberry, sweet dark cherry and plump black plum flavours fill a bright and elegant palate, supported by a blanket of fine and ripe grape tannins which complements the French oak influence.

⇐ Mitchelton Cuvee Blanc de Blancs Sparkling NV

The perfect celebratory sparkling! Intense and complex aromas with poise and depth of character. Bursting with white jasmine florals and grapefruit notes coupled with toasted almonds, brioche, and creamy nougat. Distinct yet classic pale straw in colour with a bright gold lustre.

Nero D'avola
⇐ Mitchelton Blackwood Park Riesling

Mitchelton’s most awarded wine and one of Australia’s most awarded rieslings. This wine has pure, intense aromatics of kaffir lime leaf, lemon blossom and honeysuckle, undercut by the wet slate in the soil’s lingering impact. The wine is fine and fragrant to taste – a beautifully balanced, structured riesling with steely acidity, citrus notes and classic minerality.

Pinnacle Shiraz
⇐ Mitchelton Estate Single Vineyard Chardonnay

Yellow peach and nectarine aromas are paired with lightly toasted oak elements, swiftly followed by citrus blossom and subtle gun-flint notes. A backdrop of biscuit, nougat and gun flint form the basis for the palate’s excellent power and length which is balanced with the acidity of yellow peaches and nectarines, producing a pithy and textural feel.
