LynneVale Estate
LynneVale Estate
LynneVale Estate is situated in the geographical heart of Victoria at Mandurang. An area known for producing fne wines, the winery boasts one of the best views in Bendigo. The vines were planted in the flood plain of Sheepwash Creek in 1999. After producing its first vintage in 2002, the 2003 LynneVale Estate Cabernet Shiraz won the first of many gold medals the winery would receive. Owners Glenn and Hilary Baldock took over the property in 2010 and renovated the cellar door, restaurant and bed and breakfast, ensuring the current incarnation of LynneVale Estate is as comfortable as it is stunning.
The cellar door and restaurant both feature indoor and outdoor sitting areas surrounded by native gardens and water features overlooking the picturesque vineyard and neighbouring Mandurang Valley. Despite being only a seven-minute drive from the centre of Bendigo, bed and breakfast guests can still enjoy rural tranquility as they wake up to spectacular views of the sunrise over the vines and sounds of the native birds.
LynneVale Estate’s 4.5-star accommodation includes three ensuite bedrooms with queen size beds and private access to a paved verandah and outdoor dining facilities. Weekend packages are available with all meals and hosted tours of local wineries included.
The restaurant offers a laid-back atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor sitting areas. Boasting contemporary Australian cuisine with Asian influences, using only simple, fresh and seasonal produce, LynneVale Estate cooks for everyone the same way it cooks for family and friends, and almost everything is made from scratch.
LynneVale Estate is also the operator of Bendigo Winery Tours, which provides tailored, private guided tours of the Bendigo wine region to individuals and groups. The team will take you to meet local winemakers from both popular and lesser-known wineries to taste their award-winning wines.
Tasting Notes
⇐ 2010 LynneVale Estate Shiraz
This shiraz is a brilliant purplered colour with a youthful edge. The blueberry spice flavours are lashed with red licorice and ripe dark plum flesh, with hints of seasoned oak char. This wine is juicy and textural, revealing a wonderful density of fruit with fine tannins leading to a graceful finish in the mouth.
⇐ 2016 LynneVale Estate Classic Dry Rosé
This rosé is a blend of shiraz and cabernet grapes from LynneVale Estate. It is feather-light and elegant, with hints of strawberry and a refreshing aroma. It has the classic Provence pale-pink colour, a vibrant acidity and a very subtle fruitiness on the finish. It pairs wonderfully with Asian cuisine.
⇐ 2013 LynneVale Estate Cabernet
A dense red colour, this wine has the aromas of ripe, dark plums, sweet chocolate, red fruits and spices. The palate has a concentration of full and rich flavour, which is stylish yet powerful. Plums, red fruits, licorice and spices fill the palate. This is a well-structured wine with layers of textured tannins.
⇐ 2014 LynneVale Estate Verdelho
Pale-straw in colour with hues of green, this verdelho has aromas of apricot blossom and hints of pineapple. Flavours of fruit salad and new season stone fruits are carried by crisp pineapple acidity and a fleshy texture leaves a persistent fresh finish.
