Helen & Joey Estate
Helen & Joey Estate
Helen & Joey Estate came to life in 2010 when the owners purchased an established vineyard in Gruyere, a renowned sub-region in the Yarra Valley. Located on Spring Lane, this beautiful vineyard has an impressive 35 hectares under vine and produces up to 20 wines each year.
Helen & Joey Estate’s first vintage was released in 2012 and was crafted with estate-grown varieties, which makes its wine unique to other vineyards in the Yarra Valley. Since the release of its first vintage, Helen & Joey Estate now specialises in a range of varieties such as chardonnay, pinot noir, pinot gris and cabernet, and has won a number of accolades for its wines. The 2015 Alena Chardonnay won dual trophies at the 2017 Victorian Wine Show for Best Chardonnay and Best White Table Wine in Show, while the 2015 Layla Chardonnay won a gold medal at the 2016 Yarra Valley Wine Show.
Helen & Joey Estate is quickly becoming one of the most recognisable wineries in the Yarra Valley due to its outstanding wines, views and iconic unicorn statue, Bruce.
The unicorn is the essence of Helen & Joey Estate’s vintages, which all represent mystery, elegance and power. In 2002, Helen & Joey Estate’s winemaker, Meg Brodtmann, gained the first female Australian Master of Wine title. Since her outstanding accomplishment, Brodtmann has gone on to be a lead educator in Victoria for the Wine and Spirit Education Trust. She is also a founding member of the Yarra Valley Wine Women movement, which aims to support and mentor women in the industry, while also celebrating the representation of female winemakers in the Yarra Valley. Helen & Joey Estate is proud to support Brodtmann, as well as other women, in the industry.
Helen & Joey Estate also offers delicious tasting platters seven days a week. The platters include local cheese from Stone and Crow Cheese Company, and sliced-to-order, high-quality charcuterie. Other food options are available for events or on request.
Tasting Notes

⇐ Inara Blanc de Blanc
A refreshingly crisp sparkling wine that is easy to drink, with an old-school chalky texture that leaves a very moreish finish. This wine is about deliciousness and joy, rather than pretences of grandeur.

⇐ Inara Cabernet Sauvignon
Inara wines represent casual and relaxed living, and are made to be consumed in their youth. This cabernet sauvignon displays primal smoky notes, with a deliciously herbal and sweet roasted capsicum core. Pair with a slow-cooked barbeque meal.

⇐ Wayward Child Skins Pinot Gris
Wayward Child Skins Pinot Gris is an aromatic adventure. With selected parcels from Helen & Joey Estate vineyard, the finest pinot gris grapes are hand-picked and fermented with skin and juice. This wine is the ideal addition to your next occasion, as the aromatic and textural experience is like that of drinking rose gold.

⇐ Alena Chardonnay
This vintage 2017 chardonnay is the winery’s most awarded and acclaimed wine. The result of 20 years of expert winemaking, with no expense spared, the wine is a combination of elegant fruit characters. You will find hints of grilled white peach, cashews, seed and grapefruit.
