Grampians Estate

Grampians Estate

Grampians Estate has quickly become one of the region’s leading boutique wineries and has accumulated a long list of awards since 2002, including a five red star rating from James Halliday and an impressive 50 trophies.

The Garden Gully Vineyard at Great Western features shiraz and Riesling vines planted in the 1870s, with the Riesling vines thought to be the oldest in Victoria. This vineyard was established by the Salinger family in 1878, and many of the original shiraz vines are still in production.

Grampians Estate’s Mafeking Vineyard is located south of the Great Dividing Range, alongside the Grampians National Park. This vineyard, which was planted by Tom Guthrie in 1989, has produced many award-winning wines. The two flagship wines at Grampians Estate are the Streeton Reserve Shiraz and the Rutherford Sparkling Shiraz. These two wines reflect the region’s fine reputation for elegant, cool-climate spicy shiraz and are regular award-winners.

In 2017, Grampians Estate was named Champion Small Winery at the Australian Small Winemakers Show.

The wide range of wines available at the cellar door includes a variety of shiraz, grenache, tempranillo, pinot, riesling, chardonnay, fortifed wines, and sparkling white
and rosé wines. The cellar door also sells cheese platters, muffins, espresso coffee, local produce, books and glassware.

The cellar door owners and staff offer visitors a friendly, informative and enjoyable experience. In 2015, Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine awarded the Grampians Estate Cellar door the ‘Star Cellar Door’ and ‘Cellar Door with Best Food’ for the Grampians/ Henty region. In the 2015 Grampians Pyrenees Business Awards, Grampians Estate also won the Agribusiness Award and Employee of the Year Award.

In 2016, Grampians Estate celebrated 20 years of successful wine production. Located in the picturesque and historic Grampians, the winery is a must-see for all wine enthusiasts.

2016 Streeton Reserve Shiraz

This wine displays iconic characteristics of the Grampians region. The nose shows hints of vibrant and concentrated red cherry, as well as a delightful meatiness. The palate of dark cherry also has acidity. Soft tannins are tastefully knitted into the wine for a youthful mouthfeel. This shiraz will soften and mellow with cellaring.

2015 Rutherford Sparkling Shiraz

This elegant and fulflling wine consumes the mouth with fruit and effervescence. The palate is spicy and rich with fruity flavours, and some varietal spice on the nose. Made as per method-traditionelle, this shiraz has beautiful balance, length and style.

2017 Mafeking Shiraz
2017 Mafeking Shiraz

After a long, cool ripening period, this mafeking shiraz has lots of spice and pepper on the nose. The medium-bodied palate displays vibrant red berries and spicy flavours. It is a classic cool-climate vintage to savour and enjoy.

2017 Grampians GST (Grenache Shiraz Tempranillo)
2017 Grampians GST (Grenache Shiraz Tempranillo)

With vibrant violet and rose petal on the nose, this wine is highly engaging. The grenache flavour dominates the wine, while the shiraz and tempranillo lifts and provides it with body. By ageing in oak, this wine is given a highly enjoyable level of complexity.
