Grampians Estate

Grampians Estate

Grampians Estate has quickly become one of the region’s leading boutique wineries combining its premium range of cool-climate wines with its new winery café.

This latest café venture serves delicious meals using local produce, and boasts a plethora of breathtaking seating options, including the 1878 Room and a spacious outside deck that overlooks the historic vines.

Grampians Estate’s flagship wines, the Streeton Reserve Shiraz and the Rutherford Sparkling Shiraz head an impressive line-up that includes shiraz, grenache, tempranillo, riesling, pinot gris, chardonnay, fortified wines, and sparkling white and rosé. Fruit is predominantly sourced from three Grampians Vineyards; the St Ethels Vineyard beside the cellar door at Great Western (planted from 1878), the Grampians Estate’s Mafeking Vineyard (planted from 1989) and the Arrawatta Vineyard at Great Western. Experienced and dedicated winemaker, Tom Guthrie oversees the small winery at Mafeking and is in charge of crafting Grampians Estate’s delicious wines.

Grampians Estate has won an outstanding number of awards over the past two decades. In 2018, Grampians Estate was named ‘Champion Small Winery’ at the Australian Small Winemakers Show for the second year running, while its 2017 St Ethel’s Shiraz won the Premiers Trophy for ‘Victorian Champion Wine’ at the 2019 Victorian Wine Show.

With a modern Enomatic wine dispenser to keep wines fresh and at the right temperature, we are able to offer our full complement of wines including our top of the range Streeton Reserve Shiraz and 1878 Vines Shiraz. Enjoy a professional tasting session and then relax with a cheese platter, toastie or farm-grown lamb pie with a glass of your favourite drop on the deck. With heritage vines from in the 1800s within touching distance, Grampian’s Estate is definitely a special place to visit.

Tasting Notes

2018 Streeton Reserve Shiraz
2018 Streeton Reserve Shiraz

Spicy, with a powerful yet elegant palate, and perfumed integrated oak. Dark plums, blackberries, excellent length and balance with an enjoyable lingering finish. Beautiful oak and fruit interaction. This wine won ‘Wine of Show’ at the 2021 Western Vic Wine Show.

2020 Rutherford Sparkling Shiraz
⇐ 2021 Rutherford Sparkling Shiraz

This elegant and fulfilling wine consumes the mouth with fruit and effervescence. The palate is spicy and rich with fruity flavours and some varietal spice on the nose. Made as per method-traditionelle, this shiraz has beautiful balance, length and style.

2023 Mafeking Shiraz
⇐ 2023 Mafeking Shiraz

Intense aromas reminiscent of black licorice, olives and cola, with a big, soft and seductive palate, rich with spicy berry flavours with lashings of licorice and grippy tannins. A crowd favourite.

2022 Woolclasser’s GST
⇐ 2022 Woolclasser’s GST

This highly engaging wine is made up of fifty per cent grenache, forty per cent shiraz and ten per cent tempranillo. Vibrant violet and rose petal aromas lead to a multi-layered flavoursome wine based around the grenache. The shiraz adds depth and the tempranillo some complexity in a wine where the palate is rich, flavoursome, fresh, long and fine. This wine won a trophy at the 2023 Ballarat Wine Show.’
