Fowles Wine

Fowles Wine

A proudly family run business, Fowles Wine owns and manages 300 acres of vines across two vineyards in the Strathbogie Ranges. Located 100 kilometres north of Melbourne, the rugged region is characterised by ancient granite boulders dating back over 360 million years. A huge peninsula pushed up from the ocean, the Strathbogie Ranges has emerged as a truly distinct, high-altitude and cool climate region, producing intense wines that are elegant and full of character.

The style and character that Fowles Wine produces reflects its light-touch approach to viticulture in a cool climate. The whites exhibiting great fruit intensity and minerality with a lightness and freshness, and the reds highly perfumed, intensely coloured and powerful, yet restrained. A short, fifteen minute drive down the hill from the winery, in Avenel, is the cellar door, farm store and restaurant. Guests can enjoy a farm-to-table dining experience of sustainable and authentic food, prepared with love. Every dish on the restaurant menu is crafted to perfectly match a glass of Fowles Wines’ best, for a food and wine matching experience with panoramic views of granite mountains and native gardens.

Home to Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch wines, blended specifically to match the flavour and texture of ethically sourced wild game meat, Fowles Wine follows a simple philosophy: to farm in nature’s image. Working with the terroir, rather than against it, Fowles Wine is supporting a diverse ecosystem in the vineyard, where beehives and insectariums bloom between the vines, and tiny but mighty microbats devour pests, ensuring the vineyard’s health and boosting yields of concentrated fruits.

Fowles Wine has released its new range, Fieldsong, embodying the essence of their ethos to farm in nature’s image. Paying homage to Fowles Wines’ light-touch approach, the new collection is brighter in style, with generous aromatics and vibrant flavours, stemmed from the belief that when you farm in nature’s image, it breeds richness and life into the ecosystem, helping all living organisms to thrive harmoniously
