Elegance Uncorked

Since the 1970s, Gippsland Wine Company has been at the forefront of winemaking in the cool, coastal Bass Coast region of Victoria. With a commitment to minimal intervention to preserve the natural fruit concentration, head vigneron Mark Heath has spent more than four decades refining his craft. During vintage, Heath collaborates with acclaimed winemaker Marcus Satchell, a Wonthaggi local, allowing each parcel of fruit to authentically express the unique Gippsland terroir.

One of the winery’s most celebrated achievements is its chardonnay, a standout varietal that has earned numerous accolades over the years. Grown in Loch Village, this small-batch chardonnay exemplified quality, character and craftsmanship. The vineyard, planted in 2004 on a sloping, north-facing block, is meticulously managed using sustainable practices with all vines hand-pruned and the grapes hand-picked. The wine is matured in a careful balance of new and seasoned French oak, resulting in a refined expression that has set an exceptional benchmark for more than fifteen years.

Notable awards include Trophy Best Chardonnay in 2010 and 2016 and Best Wine of the Year in 2010. Most recently, the 2023 Loch Village chardonnay received a high gold medal at the 2024 Gippsland Wine Show, along with trophies for Best White Wine and Best Wine in Show, before going on to be a finalist in the 2025 Victorian Premier’s Trophy Award.

Looking ahead, the Gippsland Wine Company is expanding chardonnay, planting on its new Lochonia block just 800 metres from the original site, confident the similar terroir will continue the tradition of excellence.

The team invite you to celebrate this dedication to craftsmanship by enjoying a glass of Gippsland’s finest – an elegant tribute to the region’s winemaking legacy.
