Established in 1986, the Coldstream-based winery is the home vineyard of Chandon Australia.

Chandon was founded more than sixty years ago by Robert-Jean de Vogüé with a vision and drive to redefine the creation and experience of sparkling wines. Purchasing the historic Coldstream vineyard, Green Point, that had been producing wine since 1840, Chandon struck gold in the Yarra Valley, and is today recognised as one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious wine regions.

Expanding upon the traditional-style homestead, Chandon established its now breathtaking cellar door and began planting chardonnay, pinot noir and meunier in 1986 – all of which are still grown on this first and home-base Chandon vineyard in Australia. Harking back to the company’s French origins, the company utilises méthode traditionnelle to craft the bubbles that characterise a truly high-end sparkling wine.

Spanning forty-four hectares, Chandon is a beautiful estate that provides ideal conditions for elegant cool climate varieties. The Yarra Valley vineyards benefit from the cold weather patterns sweeping in from the Great Southern Ocean and rich clay loam soils that hold high water and nutrient capacity.
