Founded in 1986, Domaine Chandon is one of Australia’s most treasured wineries. Situated in the picturesque Yarra Valley, the historic winery offers stunning views of the ranges, and is home to Australia’s largest range of cool-climate sparkling wine, backed by time-honoured production techniques from around the world.
Visitors to the winery are encouraged to start off with a self-guided tour to experience Domaine Chandon’s vision brought to life. From there, guests can enjoy time at the tasting bar, where the winery’s experts will share their impeccable knowledge. With a number of cellar door exclusives released annually, there is always a new and delicious discovery to be made.
The winery also offers online sales, and access to its members only Étoile Wine Club. Domaine Chandon’s visitors centre is a complete brand immersion for guests. Featuring a lounge bar, restaurant with exciting seasonal menus by head chef Joshua Smyth, several tastings areas, an outdoor terrace, and a retail boutique, the centre is a warm and elegant environment for visitors to enjoy.
The design of the centre was inspired by the site’s lush Yarra Valley location, with the interior colour palette reflecting that of the surrounding landscape.
Recognised for its enduring passion and skill, Domaine Chandon received a number of recent accolades. Its Chandon Vintage Brut 2015 and Chandon Late Disgorged Rosé 2009 both won the gold medal at the 2019 Champagne and Sparkling World Wine Championship. The estate’s Chandon Whitlands Plateu Blanc de Blancs 2015 received the gold medal at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show, while its Chandon Vintage Brut 2015 won the gold medal at the 2019 Royal Adelaide Wine Show. The winery’s Chandon Winemakers’ Selection 2009 was also awarded the gold medal at the 2019 Australian Sparkling Wine Show.
⇐ 2015 Chandon Vintage Brut
In 2015, Chandon began using fruits and grapes exclusively from its own estates at Strathbogie Ranges, Whitlands Plateau, and the Yarra Valley, drawing from the superiority of the vineyards. Vintage Brut is the heart and soul of Chandon, with a cuvée of compelling intensity and charm.
⇐ 2008 Chandon Late Disgorged
Age alone does not make a late disgorged wine remarkable. To retain youthfulness and vibrancy, a wine requires a rare confluence of quality vineyards, a winemaker’s patience, and the transformational effect of time on yeast. For this reason, late disgorgement represents the pinnacle of sparkling winemaking and holds historical significance.
⇐ Chandon Cuvée Riche
Modelled on the French champagne style of doux, Chandon Cuvée Riche is a delightfully sweet and enticing sparkling wine with a creamy palate and refreshingly crisp finish. With gentle hints of spice, this wine is perfect for an after-dinner drink served with cheese.
⇐ Chandon S
Made from a blend of Chandon sparkling and handcrafted orange bitters, Chandon S is a refreshing aromatic sparkling wine that is best enjoyed over ice with a twist of orange. A reinterpretation of the original champagne cocktail, Chandon S is alive with zingy notes of orange and subtle spices.
