Byronsvale Vineyard & Accommodation Bendigo
Byronsvale Vineyard & Accommodation Bendigo
Byronsvale is proudly owned and operated by a local Bendigo family, with a vision focused on preserving the estate’s rich heritage while creating authentic wine and accommodation experiences for future generations.
Hidden amongst natural bushland just minutes from Bendigo’s renowned arts, food and café precinct, Byronsvale is a sixty-five-hectare farm and vineyard estate, home to more than three hectares of some of the oldest vines cultivated in the Bendigo region, established in 1968. Among the award-winning selection of handcrafted wines on offer are Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sparkling Shiraz, Rosé and seasonal small-batch varietals, each reflecting the characterand unique terroir of the vineyard.
The stunning centrepiece of Byronsvale is the original heritage-listed two-storey sandstone stables, beautifully restored into three luxurious self-contained apartments. Guests and visitors can enjoy intimate wine tastings overlooking the vineyard, gather around the firepit during the cooler months, wander the gardens, meet the resident miniature donkeys and immerse themselves in the peaceful atmosphere of this historic property.
Byronsvale’s single-estate vineyard and sixty-year-old vines have been carefully restored and revitalised by Denise Langford and the Burke family, with ongoing soil regeneration and thoughtful restoration of the traditional vineyard. Alongside the preservation of these historic vines, an exciting new block of Grenache was planted in 2020, marking the next chapter in Byronsvale’s winemaking story.
Together, these old and new plantings are nurtured to continue producing exceptional quality fruit for generations to come.
Byronsvale holds a deep commitment to sustainable, low-intervention grape growing and regenerative practices. With a focus on synthetic chemical-free viticulture, dry-grown vines and handpicked fruit, the vineyard produces small-batch handcrafted wines that reflect both the land and the season.
Denise Langford’s vision places soil health, plant vitality and microbial diversity at the heart of everything undertaken on the property, ensuring the long-term health of the vineyard while preserving one of Bendigo’s most historic wine-growing sites for future generations.
Tasting Notes
⇐ 2021 Byronsvale Sparkling Shiraz
Voted the best at 2024 Bendigo Wine Producers Festival, the Byronsvale Sparkling Shiraz is medium in colour. The bouquet has complex notes of raspberry, cherry and mint with good lift. Its palate has a soft entry, delicate effervescence, smooth mid-palate and finishes with the subtle sweetness, acidity and soft dry tannins.
⇐ 2021 Byronsvale Rosé
The 2024 Byronsvale Rosé is a blend of first-pick Grenache and old vine Shiraz grapes, gently handpicked at the perfect time for optimal ripeness. Delicious red berry fruit accompanied by a balanced dry finish merge to produce this vibrant, exceptional drinking Rosé.
⇐ 2021 Byronsvale Summer Red Shiraz
The bright colour and medium depth define the Byronsvale Summer Red Shiraz. Fermented in a Pinot-Noir style, with a lower alcohol content, this red is ideal for a summer evening enjoyed with loved ones. The bouquet is cherry ripe with some subtle, herbal notes. The palate is soft and smooth; this wine can be chilled for lunch or at room temperature in the evening year-round.
⇐ 2017 Byronsvale Estate Shiraz
Gold Medal winner at the 2019 Victorian Wine Show. The palate mirrors the bouquet with dark berry fruits layered alongside subtle smoky oak and cedar notes. Full and beautifully rounded, it showcases ripe black fruit flavours supported by fine, lingering tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is long, structured, and dry.
