Byronsvale Vineyard & Accommodation Bendigo
Byronsvale Vineyard & Accommodation Bendigo
Byronsvale Vineyard & Accommodation Bendigo is a private and peaceful 65-hectare farmland and vineyard estate that is surrounded by the natural beauty of the bush and the state park. On the property you will find an abundance of birds and wildlife and will be warmly greeted by the winery’s much loved border collie Buddy, and cheeky shih tzu Soda. Conveniently situated to enjoy both the Bendigo and Goldfield tourist attractions, Byronsvale Vineyard & Accommodation Bendigo is only seven kilometres from Bendigo’s CBD and the city’s renowned arts, history, and café culture precinct.
There is an abundance of wonderful history at Byronsvale Vineyard & Accommodation Bendigo, and the shiraz and cabernet vines are the oldest in the Bendigo region. Byronsvale Vineyard & Accommodation Bendigo was recently purchased by the Burke family, who plan to bring three generations of the one family together as custodians of this very special property, preserving its future while honouring its rich historical past.
Closely following many traditional European grape growing methods adjusted to suit the unique location and climate along the fertile flats of Myer’s Creek – from dry land farming to sustainable, organic, and regenerative practices – the fifty-three-year-old vines produce great-tasting, well balanced grapes that are handpicked for small batch, premium award-winning wines.
Experienced local winemaker Lindsay Ross has been creating natural, handcrafted wines from this picturesque vineyard under his label for more than thirty-five years. The Burkes along with their daughter Denise Langford have taken on the management and restoration role and will now present the first wine label in the property’s 155-year history. Lindsay will continue to make the single estate Byronsvale wine, while mentoring Denise and sharing his extensive and intimate knowledge of the vineyard.
The stunning centrepiece of Byronsvale Vineyard & Accommodation Bendigo is the original heritage-listed, two storey, grand sandstone stables along with the homestead and gardens which overlook the 3-hectare vineyard. D.C. Sterry, one of the first Mayors of Bendigo commissioned the stables to be built, and they now offer three superbly restored and converted self-contained apartments, designed to provide all the comforts expected in fine accommodation – a holiday destination to be enjoyed by all.
Tasting Notes
⇐ 2021 Byronsvale Rosé
This delicious wine is reminiscent of ripe strawberries and spices with a light herbal twist. An elegant and dry rosé, this wine has a soft, red fruit taste on the palate. With a fine acid lingering finish, it is designed to be enjoyed as a young wine and enjoyed with your favourite antipasto.
⇐ 2021 Byronsvale Summer Red Shiraz
The bright colour and medium depth defines this Byronsvale Summer Red Shiraz. Its low alcohol content makes it ideal for a summer evening enjoyed with loved ones. The bouquet is
cherry ripe with some subtle, herbal notes. The palate is soft and smooth; this wine can be chilled for lunch or at room temperature in the evening.
⇐ 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep, dark red and black hues to the rim. With flavours of sweet blackberries combined with undertones of aniseed, mint, and herbal notes. A complex and vibrant palate that balances the fruity elements with earthy flavours and oak notes. A magnificent ‘sleeper’ wine that will only improve with age.
