Bigibila Wines

Nestled in the heart of the Pyrenees wine region of Victoria, lies Bigibila Wines, a familyowned winery renowned for its sustainable winemaking practices and extra virgin olive oil production. Owned and operated by Peter Bicknell and Jillian Henderson, the winery has become a destination for wine lovers and visitors looking for a unique and unforgettable experience.

What sets Bigibila Wines apart is its unwavering commitment to sustainability. From the vineyards to the cellar, the family strives to maintain a minimal environmental footprint while delivering exceptional quality wine. The vineyards are cultivated using regenerative farming practices, and traditional methods are applied in the winery to produce their hand crafted, boutique wines.

However, the family’s dedication to their craft doesn’t stop in the winery. Bigibila also produce rich, luxurious extra virgin olive oil from their 10 acres of olive trees. The olives are handpicked and cold-pressed within hours of harvesting, resulting in smooth, vibrant oil that’s bursting with flavour.

The wines produced by Bigibila Wines are a testament to the Pyrenees wine region’s terroir, with each bottle showcasing a unique combination of flavours and aromas. Their red wine selection, including shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot, are a favourite among wine connoisseurs.

One of the standout wines is their cabernet franc, which has gained a cult following for its unique, earthy flavour and smooth tannins. It pairs perfectly with hearty dishes such as lamb, beef, or wild game. But all of the Bigibila wines have a distinct character and complexity that make them a joy to savour.

The cellar door and restaurant offer an intimate dining experience with a wood fire to keep you warm during the cooler months. The real treat is the outside deck, where visitors can enjoy stunning views of the abundant vines while savouring a glass of luscious red wine and a delicious cheese and charcuterie platter filled with exquisite local produce and home-made bread. The peaceful ambiance of the native garden that surrounds the winery only adds to the tranquil and relaxing atmosphere.
