A Rich History of Wine
Best’s Wines is situated in the historical town of Great Western only thirty minutes from the picturesque Grampians region and two and a half hours from Melbourne. Great Western is a rich wine-growing area that has been producing wines since the 1860’s. Founded by Henry Best in 1866, Best’s Wines is now one of Australia’s oldest family-owned and –operated wineries. In 1920, the Thomson family purchased the winery from Henry’s son Charles and is now run by fifth Generation Ben Thomson. Best’s Wines is listed amongst some of Australia’s finest wineries, recently joining Australia’s First Families of Wine. For many years, its wines have been included in the Langton’s Classification collection and they are thrilled to see two of its finest in the VIII edition, with the Thomson Family Shiraz named as First Classified and their Bin No. 0 Shiraz as Classified.
