Tahbilk Winery
Tahbilk Winery
Tahbilk Winery dates all the way back to 1860 when its vines were originally planted. The Pubrick family purchased the estate in 1925 and began the legacy that it thrives on today. A celebration of five generations of Purbrick family who have lived, worked and led Victoria’s oldest family-owned winery and vineyard. Visiting this winery is like stepping into an oasis, where the stunning natural landscape complements the notorious winemaking heritage. Tahbilk holds a rich source of old and iconic single-vineyard wines, including Victoria’s oldest Shiraz, which was planted in 1860 and Australia’s oldest Marsanne, planted in 1927.
At the forefront of the Purbrick family is sustainability. Tahbilk is a proudly accredited net carbon zero winery since 2014 and achieved naturally net carbon zero emissions in 2022. Spanning over 220 hectares and producing more than twenty different varietals of wine every year, this winery specialises in creating red and white wines, including Shiraz, Cabernet and Marsanne, that pay homage to the place they are grown.
Tahbilk is located in the Nagambie Lakes region and recognised as a sub region within central Victoria’s Goulburn Valley. The estate is nestled amongst the creeks of the Tahbilk wetlands, this hidden gem in the heart of Victoria. Tahbilk holds a variety of tours and experiences. For a deeper understanding of winemaking and history, a guided cellar door tour, including a tour of the underground cellar, is not to be missed. For the wine curious, you can create your own wine under the guidance of Tahbilk’s wine ambassador in a wine blending experience. Here you can learn more about how to taste wine, and combine different varieties to create your own personal blend to take home.
Guests can also enjoy the Tahbilk Estate Restaurant, where the menu is crafted to pair with Tahbilk wines, creating a matched food and wine experience. The restaurant sources quality ingredients from local producers where possible, so guests can enjoy a seasonal menu that highlights the best the region has to offer.
While only a ninety minute drive from Melbourne, Tahbilk awaits your arrival and will surely capture the hearts and minds of visitors.
