Taltarni
Taltarni
Since 1977, Taltarni has been crafting cool climate wines to reflect the promise and potential of its land in the Victorian Pyrenees, just a few hours north of Melbourne. Taltarni’s legacy is to carry on a multi-generational commitment to the land – building on its heritage, nourishing its potential, and conserving it so that it can continue creating beautiful and enjoyable wine for generations to come.
Located amongst the quiet ranges and vistas of the Pyrenees wine region, Taltarni’s picturesque property encompasses 240-acres under vine. Rich with fertile soils, cool nights and warm days, the Pyrenees foothills and ranges provide a diversity of micro-climates for Taltarni’s winemakers. Taltarni’s varietal includes chardonnay and pinot noir for sparkling and still production, and shiraz and cabernet sauvignon sourced from vines planted in 1969. The winery continues to receive accolades and trophies across their wine collection, including ‘Top Winery in Australia 2024’ by The Real Review, as well as gold medals and top rank for their Old Vine Shiraz, Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Reserve Shiraz Cabernet from the Halliday Wine Companion.
Taltarni’s approach is anchored in tradition yet driven by innovation. It embraces the challenge of pushing boundaries while staying true to what the land provides. Its wines are a true celebration of classic and contemporary styles. The cool climate wines are crafted purely for enjoyment; subtle yet intricate, bright yet complex, each one made for sharing.
Taltarni invites you to its cellar door, a place to explore and relax. Whether it’s sampling some rare offerings, or relishing the scenic views and warm hospitality, at Taltarni the pour is an invitation to come together and connect.

Tasting Notes
⇐ 2019 Blanc de Blancs
With a golden hue and fine bead and mousse this wine delivers delicate citrus notes on both the palate and nose accompanied by hints of oyster shell due to extended time on yeast lees. The palate is complex with a natural acid and a creamy minerality due to the malolactic fermentation in oak. This wine is balanced and refined, displaying the true quality of Pyrenees Chardonnay.
⇐ 2022 Reserve des Pyrenees
This wine has rich cherry and delicate mulberry aromas, with intense plum and cassis flavours. It is full-bodied and balanced with soft tannins, a hint of spice and sweet oak. Enjoy it with sticky barbeque spareribs or Shanghai fried noodles.
⇐ 2022 Sangiovese
With rich aromas of cherry and cloves, this medium-bodied wine is perfectly balanced by soft strawberries, red forest fruits and ripe cherry flavours. Drink this with slow-cooked beef ribs.
⇐ 2019 Reserve Shiraz Cabernet
This Australian blend is rich with aromas of blueberry and blackcurrant. It has a velvety palate with earthy tones, forest fruits, light spice, mint and bitter chocolate hints. It matches perfectly with peppered aged Angus ribeye steak, and is suitable for drinking now or cellar for 10-20 years.
