Thirty Years, One Wild Card
The team at Lethbridge Wines is delighted to announce that its exciting new wine, the ‘NV Lethbridge Yellow’, has been named the inaugural winner of the ‘Wild Card of the Year’ category in the newly released 2026 Halliday Wine Companion. This wine is yet another triumph of Ray’s winemaking. Always the experimenter and with an incredible passion for everything wild and wonderful in wine, Ray has fashioned this wine on the great wine of the Jura, Vin Jaune. Highly complex and layered, this wine is most definitely an outlier. Following the estate’s fine form, this award is on the back of Lethbridge Wines being named in James Halliday’s Top 100 Wineries in Australia in 2025.
While experimenting with unusual wines is the estate’s ‘play space’, the true passion and hard work lies in honing its expressions of pinot noir and chardonnay, the wines Lethbridge are best known for both locally and internationally. The 2025 vintage saw the winery make more than eight single-vineyard pinot noirs and five single-vineyard chardonnays – some of the most exciting wines the team have ever crafted.
In 2026, Lethbridge celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. There are so many great wines and stories to taste and reflect on, and as the second generation begin their involvement in the business there is also much to look forward to.
